HOW DO I CHANGE OUT THE OLD STERISIL® STRAW FOR A NEW STERISIL® STRAW V2?
Remove bottle. While holding down the collet at the end of the Sterisil® Straw, gently pull the ¼” pick-up tube away from the Sterisil® Straw. You are now ready to install the new Sterisil® Straw. Ensure that the tubing on the chair is flexible. If not replace it with flexible tubing. Next insert the Luer lock fitting into the tubing. Remove the orange fitting on top of the Sterisil® Straw and screw the Sterisil® Straw into the Leur lock by rotating to the right.
WHY IS MY STRAW PREVENTING WATER FLOW AND SEEMS CLOGGED?
If using the Sterisil® Straw V2 for use with distilled water (S365-V2), the use of tap water may cause contaminates to react with the resin and precipitate onto the submicron filter causing the flow to decrease. It is recommended to use the Sterisil® Straw for municipal water (S365m-V2) if using tap water. Also, please ensure the 1/4" pick-up tube and the Leur lock are together securely. If you still have restricted flow, ensure the that the barb connecting the pick-up tube to the chair is attached securely.
DOES THE TYPE OF WATER I USE MATTER?
Sterisil® only recommends using distilled water for use with the Sterisil® Straw V2 (Part #: S365-V2). Good quality tap water (up to 250 TDS PPM) may be used with the Sterisil® Straw V2 for municipal water (Part #: S365m-V2). If you are unsure of the quality of your water, tap water should be tested by Sterisil to evaluate water quality.
WHY IS MY BOTTLE ONLY EMPTYING PART WAY?
If the pick-up tube and the Luer lock fitting are not secure, an air gap may exist allowing air to bypass the Sterisil® Straw V2. To obtain a good seal, simply push the luer lock completely into the ¼” tubing.
WHY DO I SEE GRANULES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE?
If the pre or post filters inside the Sterisil® Straw have been damaged, it is possible for the resin beads to bypass the filter. Also, the life of a S90 is ninety days while the life of the S365 is one year. Replace the Sterisil® Straw as scheduled.
